Whether you’re using an old model bag vacuum cleaner, a new bagless model, or various central vacuum cleaner systems, maintenance is important to keep your vacuum functioning properly. If your vacuum cleaner belt is damaged or your vacuum hose is punctured, your vacuum may not run properly or could lose suction power. Before purchasing a new Central Vacuum system, let us help you with the issues you may be having. Eventually, every vacuum will show signs of wear and tear and will need maintenance, repair or installation of parts, hoses or accessories. Let us look at some of the issues you may be having and how we can assist you.
Vacuum Cleaner Suction is not strongIf your vacuum cleaners suction power isn’t performing as strong as it once did, check your bag, filter, or hose. If you have a bagged vacuum, be sure that your bag isn’t punctured and that your vacuum cleaner bag isn’t full of debris. If your bag is full, empty your vacuum bag and see if the suction power doesn’t improve. Many vacuum cleaner models have filters in the vacuum and often times they can become clogged. If you have a clogged filter that’s washable, wash with plain water. If your filter still isn’t working; it could be time to purchase a new filter altogether.
Vacuum cleaners can sometimes shut off during use; this can be for a number of reasons. One of the major features with central vacuum cleaners and household vacuums is a high temperature shut off feature. If you’re attempting to vacuum a surface that’s not designed to be vacuumed on, or if you’re vacuuming up the debris that shouldn’t be in your vacuum filter; your vacuum system can heat up and burn out the motor. Often times, vacuums are designed to shut off to prevent your motor from overheating.
Clogged parts and attachmentsMany vacuum cleaner systems have multiple parts and attachments that can become clogged with hair and debris; be sure to clean and clear out anything preventing suction from performing at optimum levels. If you’ve cleaned out the hair and debris from your attachments and vacuum parts and your vacuum cleaner is still not performing well, it’s time to replace your vacuum cleaner attachments and parts.
Burning smell while vacuumingIf you smell a burning smell and your vacuum beater bar isn’t moving, it’s highly likely that your vacuum cleaner belt could be broken. You can purchase vacuum system belts and replace them on your own, or you can bring them to Gator Vacuum and have a professional install a new belt for you, hassle free!
If you have any questions about your central vacuum cleaner or vacuum cleaner parts and accessories, feel free to stop into Gator Vacuum or give us a call, we can help you with all of your vacuum cleaner repair and installation needs!
NOTE: Most of the information is on upright vacuums and not Central vacuums.
